About the author

Hello, I am Nancy Janisch. I am a transplanted Kansas living in west Michigan. I spent 20 years working as a small animal and emergency practice veterinarian. Then I went to seminary for a Master of Divinity degree and spent 15 years as a campus minister (www.uccfmi.org).

Now, in addition to writing, my time is focused on offering spiritual direction, resisting Christian Nationalism, and being a strong ally for LGBTQ+ people.

I am interested in how people of faith interact with the world and what informs and shapes our faith. Often my writing begins with a Biblical text and then connects that text with current events and life.

Welcome

As the title suggests, I hope to encourage thoughtful, respectful conversation about faith. My goal is discussion, not diatribe and not debate. I don’t think I have all the answers, and I won’t assume that you do either. But I do think that by talking together we can all learn. So I invite you to respond to my posts. I hope we will ask each other questions, share our views and think together about various topics. I am a Christian, and that will be evident in my writing, but I hope that people from a variety of faith traditions will feel welcome to participate here.
